What comes out better not go in!
After, what has been probably over 22 years, my closet is completely clean. I can now move the clutter from my room into the closet. The contents, stacked in the basement, or on the porch being further sorted tomorrow, will be sold at a yard sale, donated, or trashed (in that order) later this summer.
Cleaning my closet means cleaning my room which leads to more music production. I look forward to creating some tunes with guitar samples by yours truely, and maybe even writing some lyrics so you can start hearing less Rihanna and more of my vocals. How exciting!

Graduation, But Not Quite
Back home last night after walking at my graduation ceremony. It was an odd experience as I felt like it should have meant a lot to me, but didn't as I was prepared to come back next semester, however it was fun to get dressed up and decked out in my honor's chords and stole. There is no ceremony for December graduates, so I'm glad I went to this one.
Being home, I haven't unpacked anything except for my computer and my futon which we moved into my room. My room is full of boxes, so I am about to embark on a journey into the contents of my closet to throw out and donate everything that I have no need for (and aren't special to the family; I think my parents wedding pictures are in there). At some point I'll start cooking too.
For anyone who doesn't know about it, Sarah and I are planning a roadtrip in about 2 weeks?! We will be keeping a blog of that here: tsroadtrip.blogspot.com

Cool Art

I don't know what it means, but this grad piece was quite cool. The black puddles on the ground are actually black, polished glass.

This piece looks like art, but is a horn melon I found at Wegmans! Coolest fruit I have seen (and expensive). I'll upload pictures of the inside when we cut it open. The inside is just as cool!

Hot Dogs and Hangovers
No, I am not hungover, but a good amount of people in Alfred are.
Yesterday was Alfred's 39th Annual Hot Dog Day Festival. Art vendors, a parade, live music, greasy food, mud volleyball, and fifty cent hot dogs. It was a great sunny with perfect temperature day. Sarah and I avoided the drama of the college drinking parties (which occur everywhere) and enjoyed the festivities and art on sale on main street.

We enjoyed the sun and when we didn't want to spend money and more food we returned to my apartment for shrimp and started the initial planning of our road trip!
We have decided not to go to California, but are still going as far as Arizona. We will be stopping at many places along the way, and hope to spend some more time visiting family along our route. I am trying to figure out the best way to post information about our trip plans, and will definitely be keeping up a blog as we travel across the US! Look for updates soon, here and/or on Facebook.
Edit: Somebody made this on campus. Terrible song, but appropriate.

For the World
"Owego Elementary School students recently spent a day participating in many activities dealing with keeping our earth healthy. Since I work at the school, I was fortunate enough to capture their day." I think it's amazing what Gio can do with a camera and some editing software, so I would like to share this with the rest of you.

First Day of Spring
Going on four great days of sunshine. Found that I will be keeping busy and maybe get a little more in shape! Sarah and I have started running about every other day. I'm trying to go to the karate dojo at least twice a week now that karate class has ended (something I hope to keep up next semester since most of my friends are graduating in May). I also agreed to join some of the engineers in intramural softball. I haven't swung a bat in maybe 4 years, but they aren't too worried about that. I have also been accepted as the new bassist for a comedy duo Natural Wood. It gives me the perfect opportunity to practice bass live. It is exciting because instead of the song-writing lead singer I have had to be in previous bands, I can sit back and let them come up with the material, while developing my bass skills.
AND tonight I'm meeting my parents for early birthday dinner in Elmira. Need to call them and set up a meeting place (I'm thinking Chili's!)
PS: ANYBODY can leave comments on my blog. I enjoy reading them and you don't need to sign up for anything, just click comments at the bottom of a posting, and type an anonymous message, being sure to include who you are at the end, thus making it not anonymous anymore. Look forward to hearing from you!

Smile!
No cavities! Dentist visit took just 30 minutes. Met with a few people on craigslist.com and sold a couple PlayStation games, and enjoyed a walk in the great weather in downtown Endicott, looking for a AAA that didn't exist. I did end up finding it when my mom let me know that it had moved, and now I have maps that Sarah and I can mark up of the locations we may visit this summer if we go on our road trip. It will be fun to mark it up, it will not be fun calculating how expensive the trip may be.
Tomorrow I'm heading back to school to enjoy campus life while school isn't in session, while still having the burden of something that needs to be done.
I like by new book so far, except the writer tends to add bits of knowledge that no character in the story would actually know, and a lot of things that I don't really care about. And, when all firearms and electrical gadgets stop working, the characters all seem to have bows, swords, and axes, all of which are fantasy based. Sometimes things seem head-slappingly convenient. I don't like putting a book down for good; we'll see how it goes.
And for a picture, here is the first attempt at catching our skunk.

That is one angry kitty. His fault for pretending.

Cooking?
I've been home a few days now for "spring break" although the weather makes it feel like at least we're heading the right direction. Almost impossible to keep myself focused on things that need to be done by the end of break, being a revised resume and some senior project items.
I made some Mexican rolls for my dad, which for the life of me I can't remember what they are called right now, but are my favorite to order in restaurants (my mom was working late and didn't get any). Tonight I made chicken alfredo with fettuccine and broccoli. Turned out a lot better than I expected, and made the perfect amount so that there weren't leftovers.

It's getting late, and there's more to add but I'll do it tomorrow. Getting tired and I just started Dies The Fire, which I like being able to read just before I fall asleep. I just finished The Kite Runner last week, which was a dark but well written book, though took me longer to read than I had hoped. It was nice being able to read so much during my co-op.
Got teeth cleaning in the morning. Joy.

SNOW DAY
My freshman year, Alfred had the first snow day in 8 years. Today is my third, and means a long weekend!
Last weekend Sarah and I went skiing. It was her first time ever, and though we got tired out pretty quick, I think she really enjoyed it (she was a natural). It was a beautiful day and the snow was perfect. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a photo of her on skis =(
This past week, my landlord has been trying to trap the skunk with his friend. We haven't caught our prime suspect yet, however he said they saw two here the other day, and the one they caught so far was a third different one!
I posted this video on youtube of our fat critter trying to get in, and my landlord posted a video of the skunk they captured this past week. Hopefully they will keep catching them, and he will be a hero to the town.

Puppetteering
Day one of the Making of Europe class, I signed up to be in a group that had to present a book project first to the class. It entitled us to read a book, present the contents to the class with your group in an interesting fashion, and write a 5 page paper, all in about 1 1/2 weeks.

The group read Gilgamesh, and after reading the book, decided to create a puppet show video for the book. So, we had a busy week last week:
Monday - Decided to go with a puppet show
Tuesday - Created puppets, props, and some scripts
Wednesday - Finished scripts, recorded audio, then recorded video
Thursday - Mixing, and writing 5 page paper (I was only one who started this earlier)
Friday - Present in class, crash on exhaustion after

Wednesday we worked from 3 pm to 1:30 am recording. The entire week felt like a long weekend that you had to purely do work in.

Why did we put ourselves through hell? 20 extra points to our group project and paper, worth a total of 30% of our final grade.

Things Have Almost Started. And Ended.

It's been a busy week. I've set up my room completely different than how I thought I would have, but now get to utilize the whole thing. Painted half of Sarah's room, another half to paint today. Her pipes are frozen. My roommate may be coming in tomorrow night.
We met with Sarah's artist friends a little last night. It's odd how everyone will be saying how it is exciting that it is their last semester. It's not mine, and it is kind of sad that this is the last semester I may see many of their faces. Of coarse, Facebook may keep many in touch, and I'm sure I will see some of my closer friends, and next semester will be better for studying.

COUNTDOWN!!!
Got back from Sarah's today. Had an action packed week!
Went to the city Monday, highlighted by lunch at Morimoto restaurant (everything we touched was delicious, as he is an iron chef). We walked the high-rise park,
Tuesday we went to Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, where Sarah was poking around to get info on a possible internship. Next door was the owner of the company's concrete mansion. It was a crazy house, truly unique, and big.

Wednesday we took it easy, going out to eat with Sarah's grandmother and cooking a lemon chicken dinner for her family, and finished watching her Northern Exposure dvds.
Now I'm back at home, with plenty that needs to be done, and I don't feel like doing anything...
Maybe tomorrow.
Anyway, counting down the hours before I head to Alfred. Can't wait!

Jersey Week
Not even home for a whole day and I'm in New Jersey visiting Sarah. We just picked up a futon at IKEA and I am very happy with my purchase. The mattress is comfortable and the frame makes it extremely easy to convert from a bed to a sofa and back, while the mattress hinge seam is unrecognizable when laying on it.
Can't wait to go back to school!
